Who we are
EmailEQ is operated by Four Peel Banana LLC, doing business as EmailEQ ("EmailEQ", "we", "us"). This policy covers the EmailEQ shopper app at app.emaileq.com, this website, and the emails we send. Brands and industry customers use separate portals (brands.emaileq.com and industry.emaileq.com); what they can see about shoppers is described below.
What we collect
Account details
Your sign-in email address, when you joined, the invite you joined with, and your settings (such as how often you want the deals email, and at what hour and time zone).
The marketing email you send us
EmailEQ gives you a separate EmailEQ address for each brand you add. Mail that arrives at those addresses is stored in full, including its headers, text, links and images, so we can find the deals in it and show it to you in your inbox. From each message we keep the offers we find (store, offer, code, minimum spend, expiry, link and a product image) and, for order emails, the store, order number, status and amount. We also keep technical details from the headers, such as the sending domain, email service provider and authentication results.
Your EmailEQ addresses are only for brand marketing. Please don't use them for personal mail.
What you do in the app
The brands you add, which brands you've turned Data Sharing on for, and the thumbs up or down you give deals. We also record sign-in sessions (when they were created and when they expire).
What we don't collect
We don't read your personal inbox. We don't ask for your name, address, phone number or payment details, and we don't run third-party advertising or analytics trackers in the app.
How we use it
- To run EmailEQ: find deals and orders in your mail, show them as a storefront, and keep you signed in.
- To read offers that only appear in images, we send those images to an AI model that runs on Cloudflare's infrastructure (Cloudflare Workers AI). The text of each email is analyzed the same way. These models are run for us; we don't send your mail to any other AI company.
- To show brand logos, we look up the brand's own public logo record (BIMI) by its domain.
- To send you sign-in links, account notices and, if you want it, the deals email.
- To keep EmailEQ secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- To produce the anonymous, aggregate statistics described in How we make money.
Who sees what
Brands: nothing, unless you opt in
Out of the box, no brand sees what you read, click or buy. Each brand in your list has a Data Sharing switch, and it starts off. Turning it on is how you tell us you're happy for that brand to learn what you're interested in so we can get you better offers from them. You can turn it off at any time, and we record when you changed it.
When you ask us to sign you up
If you use the app to subscribe to a brand's emails, we give that brand your EmailEQ address for them, never your sign-in email. If the brand uses its own signup form, the app tells you so before you fill it in, because anything you type there goes straight to the brand.
Brands and industry customers: aggregate data only
Brands can buy anonymous, aggregate reports on how their own campaigns performed, for example how many shoppers received a campaign and how many flagged its offer as good or bad. Industry customers can license aggregate data about how brands send email (volume, timing, providers and infrastructure). These reports never include who you are or your email address, and a brand or campaign only appears once enough different shoppers are behind it that no one person's behavior can be picked out. Shopper counts are shown as ranges, and subject lines from order emails are never used.
Service providers
We use Cloudflare to host and run EmailEQ (see Where it's stored). They process data only to provide their service to us.
When the law requires it
We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that the law requires it, or to protect the safety, rights or property of our users, the public or EmailEQ. If EmailEQ is ever sold or merged, your information would transfer under this policy, and we'd tell you first.
We don't sell your personal information. The only data we sell is the anonymous, aggregate reporting described here.
How we make money
- Paid placement, always disclosed. Brands can pay a flat fee to have their offers shown ahead of others for shoppers who opted in to share data with them. Sponsored content is labeled on the content itself, with a way to tell us not to show it again.
- Anonymous campaign performance. The aggregate reports to brands described above.
- Industry patterns. The aggregate, anonymous email-sending patterns described above, licensed to industry customers.
We don't earn referral or affiliate commissions. When you tap "Shop now", you go to the brand's own link from the email, exactly as they sent it.
Where it's stored
Everything is stored and processed on Cloudflare: account data and the deals we find in Cloudflare D1, the raw email in Cloudflare R2, and the app itself on Cloudflare Workers. Email to you is sent through Cloudflare Email Sending, and image and text analysis runs on Cloudflare Workers AI. Cloudflare operates data centers around the world, so your data may be processed outside the country where you live.
When you open an email in the app, remote images are blocked until you choose "Show images". Brand logos and deal images are fetched by our servers and passed to you, so brands don't see your IP address when they load.
Emails we send you
We send sign-in links, notices about your account (such as a change to your sign-in email), and the deals email. The deals email is daily by default; you can switch it to weekly or turn it off on your Account page, or with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every deals email. Sign-in and account notices aren't optional while you have an account.
Cookies
The app uses one cookie, to keep you signed in. It expires after 30 days, or when you sign out. The app also remembers a few display preferences (such as hiding deals you gave a thumbs down) in your browser's local storage; those never leave your device. This website sets no cookies. Both the app and this website load the Inter typeface from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads.
Your controls
On the Account page in the app you can:
- Download your data as a JSON file: your brand addresses, the mail they received, and the deals, orders and thumbs we kept.
- Delete your account. This removes your account, your brand addresses, every email (including the raw messages), deal, order, thumb and sign-in session, right away. Mail sent to your old EmailEQ addresses afterwards is rejected.
- Change your sign-in email, and sign out everywhere.
- Choose your deals email: daily, weekly or off.
Data Sharing is switched per brand on your Brands page. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights (such as access, correction or objection). To use them, contact us; we won't treat you differently for doing so.
How long we keep it
We keep your mail, deals and account details for as long as you have an account, so your history and order records stay useful. When you delete your account, it's removed as described above. Copies in Cloudflare's backups age out on their schedule. Aggregate statistics that were already computed and can't identify you may be kept.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Cloudflare. Sign-in uses single-use email links instead of passwords, and sessions are stored as hashed tokens. When your sign-in email changes, we notify the old address. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we'll tell you.
Age requirement
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live if that is older, to use EmailEQ. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think someone under that age has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how your data is shared, we'll tell you by email before it takes effect.
